WORKS ELABORATION：
The replacement space is the replacement of the parts in the painting. And also is the space that the lacquer brings me into it, a space that is suspended above the real world. Each parts in the painting are independent yet reflective of each other. The combination of materials draws me into the space of imagination, where is occupied by memories, imagination, illusions and beliefs, while the dark and mottled color of the lacquer bring me a sincere sense of reality. The imaginations are distant yet the feelings are present.
TUTOR COMMENT：
The physical and visual space formed by the natural lacquer material has become the interest of Bai's creation. Her interaction with the lacquer medium and her mastery of it can be seen in the large scale composition of her works. The works abandon the superficial beauty of the lacquer decorative language and use geometric forms in a minimalist manner to form images that can be related to daily life experiences. This series of works shows strength in simplicity, and accurately expresses the unique aesthetic qualities of lacquer, which conveys the realm of less is more.
