WORKS ELABORATION:
This creation is based on the traditional Chinese grotto sculpture art as the theme and presented in a realistic way. The resleeping Buddha of Baoding Mountain carved in Dazu stone is selected for the image, which is also called sakyamuni Nirvana Holy Traces in Buddhist sutras. The name of the work is derived from this, and it also wants to convey the solemnity of this religion and the time-penetrating beauty of the grotto statues through realistic images. In terms of color, the negative image is selected to enhance the tension of the picture, and the colors presented by the negative film can also show a sense of calm and mystery. On the other hand, the negative effect also endods the picture with a certain timeliness, which reminds people of the association between traditional art and modern science and technology.
TUTOR COMMENT:
Lu Chunlin loves Traditional Chinese culture, and is particularly interested in ancient Chinese classical stone carvings. His works are based on Dazu stone carvings, and he uses negative film color to show them by photographic realistic techniques. This way of expression makes the image more intuitive and powerful visually, and also shows the author's thinking on the positioning of Traditional Chinese culture in the context of globalization. The final effect of the work is outstanding.
