WORKS ELABORATION:
What has the development of the Internet brought? Apart from the convenience of life, it has also brought about some 'invisible' problems. With the development of the internet, people have become dependent on the internet for their daily social interaction, which has led to anxiety and fear of offline social activities for some people. The work 'The Social Circle of Fear' is an interactive installation that aims to convey the current state of anxiety that people feel when socialising. When a person approaches the installation and triggers the motion sensor, the 'social phobia circle' will slowly shrink to simulate the social phobic's avoidance and evasion of social interaction, so that the audience can pay attention to this state of mind and give them more help in their lives.
TUTOR COMMENT:
The Public Art Major at Luxun Academy of Fine Arts aims to cultivate public art talents with a new outlook and innovative ideas, in order to give deeper play to the important role of public art in passing on and developing excellent traditional culture, presenting the image of the country and serving economic and social development.
Xiaowei is very focused on the current social development and living environment. She has her own understanding of the creative practice and artistic perception of her works, and is constantly experimenting with how to achieve better expression in the process of exploring the formal language. Her work, Social Terror Circle, is more spiritual and expressive in form, incorporating her own insight into social issues, making it have the significance of beautifying the environment and building spiritual civilisation.
