WORKS ELABORATION:
I use the combination of the concepts of META (transcending the boundaries of reality) and WORMHOLE (time travel) as the title of my graduation work, trying to reproduce the prototype of the consciousness of self-travel in the virtual world. This work is inspired by the compensation hypothesis of virtual reality theory that “what one lacks in the real world will be compensated in the virtual world”. This work is set in a futuristic world where the protagonist Yuan Ji spies on the disasters of the future world to alert mankind to the concerns over and protection of the natural ecology.
TUTOR COMMENT:
Liu Cixin wrote in The Three-Body Problem that survival is never something to be taken for granted. The short film alludes to another state of life that humans are currently adapting to, a process that is inevitably long and difficult when their lives are faced with a major transition for the worse. The author gives the digital man Yuan Ji a strong will to travel through the vast universe, just as the character “Ji” means the toughness of grass that is born in the wildness and resistant to freezing cold, looking for a new way of rebirth. The author has worked hard on digital creation technologies to present scenes of planetary destruction and the inner world of the character. The end of the film points out the theme and brings the viewer a dream and hope for an unknown life: perhaps life is not as you wish it to be, but please endure the coming havoc. If you can remain optimistic, there is no fear of sorrow.
