WORKS ELABORATION:
This work is a graffiti of my slow stream of consciousness. By discarding logic and blurring the subject-object relationship, I reevaluate and reimagine the existence of the various matters in this galaxy. We can let go of our prejudices about lives and feel the beauty of the galaxy as a whole while empathizing and caring for other matters. There is no protagonist in the building, no hierarchy, purpose or cause, so there is no need for a visual focus in the picture and each room tells a story.
TUTOR COMMENT:
Wu Zijue’s work shows her extraordinary imagination and creativity. Perhaps because she was born in a doctor’s family, she has always had an obsessive and constant concern for the “body”, which is an important clue throughout her works. Her work, People of the Milky Way, builds on this by adding a focus on “identity”. She illustrates a profound theme in a light-hearted way and has chosen a very oriental title for it. The word “people” is different from the “citizen” commonly used in modern society, which is an important angle to understand her work.
