WORKS ELABORATION:
This work comes from my memories of doing voluntary work in a nursing home. Because of the pandemic, I haven’t been to the nursing home for three years. Deep in my memory, these elderlies are still waiting for me to visit them. Inside and outside the house are like two worlds. Time after time people see each other off and gradually drift apart.
TUTOR COMMENT:
Zhou Jianping has received solid training at the Third Studio of the Oil Painting Department of CAFA, and he has a strong expressive ability in oil painting. His works often show concern for humanity based on his personal experience. His experience as a volunteer in a nursing home led him to care about people as well as the relationship between the inner world and the outer world. His graduation work “Figures in An Empty Room Viewed from Behind”, through the two lonely figures of different age and two different worlds inside and outside the house, explores the possibilities of interpersonal communication and the relationship between people and the world.
