WORKS ELABORATION:
I use embroidery to externalize my self-image, with body symbols being figurative carriers, and freely build my understanding of “love” and “relationship” through doing sewing work. The front and the back of the work correspond to the relationship between the limited and the accidental, and the two sides of public and private that extend from individual identity are gradually unfolding.
TUTOR COMMENT:
This work skillfully and unconventionally incorporates the author’s emotions through sewing work. The author weaves together thinking and meditation, control and contingency, as well as specific figures on the front and tangled texture on the back. The whole body of work is an attempt to bring out the exact qualities of control and indulgence with appropriate materials. After more than a year of preparation and production, this work ends up as “a manifestation of the author”. This kind of sincere self-inquiry also shows the commonality of public groups!
