WORKS ELABORATION:
I create a space of reality and illusion through the arrangement of lines, and while exploring the charm of the woodcut’s ontological language, I constantly clarify the spiritual value behind the picture. The arch is a symbol of memorial significance, with a formal and meaningful connection to the dome. If the arch symbolizes the inlet and outlet of emotions, then under the dome is the living space of emotions and spirits. The existence of the dome protects human emotions and imagination and allows them to grow and be released in peace. There is indestructible energy lurking within everyone, either poetically magnificent or spiritually solemn, which fills us with anticipations of life and infinite perceptions of the world.
TUTOR COMMENT:
"32 Engraving Methods" opens a door: a door to freedom, a door to self-sufficiency; a door to self-confidence; and a door to the whole world. The key is that it is an approach without routines that can be applied to painting, making a living, behaving and doing anything. Only a few people can grasp its essence. Li Jingyi was born to paint, especially when she encounters the "32 Engraving Methods", those ordinary wooden boards and drawings, with her carving knife and engraving skills, become rather beautiful and awesome. Brahmajala Sutra says: "The universe exists in every flower, and the Buddha lives in every leaf", not to mention a human being, a student as gifted as Li Jingyi.
